School of Hard Knocks

My now 18-year old son, got a lesson in the School of hard knocks today. I got a collect call from him at the police station while at the beach for Senior Week. Yup, you guessed it, he got arrested for underage drinking. I feel so bad for this child, but he is learning this lesson the hard way. As a parent you want to help, but because of his age, I can do nothing, this lesson he must learn on his own. After being up all night with constant collect calls from him, I'm exhausted and really need a day off. The funny thing is, I have been anticipating something was going to happen for a week now. Since this has happened the stress of worry is now over and exhuastion is settinig in. I can only hope that this lesson is learned and he will finally straighten himself out. I'm heart broken but can't wait to see him so I can give him a hug and let him know that he will be fine, but needs to start behaving like an adult.

Monday Blues

After a weekend with family I dread dropping my boys off at daycare on Monday mornings. I really wish I were able to stay at home with them. Every Monday I have the blues, I miss those boys so much and it breaks my heart to have to leave them.
Tony is now officially an adult, he turned 18 on Saturday and I could not be more proud! My little boy is all grown up and it seems to have happened over night. The whole idea of my other two boys growing up makes me want to cry, I wish I could keep them forever, but I know I can't. As I get older, I'm starting to realize just how important family and it breaks my heart to know that one day my nest will be empty. All I can do is pray that the good Lord gives me the strength as each of my little men leave.

Teenagers

I am now convinced that God gave us the privilege to raise teenagers as a torture mechanism! My 17-year son Tony, who will be 18 tomorrow, does not have a brain. If he does have a brain he hasn't learned how to use it yet. He has a job, but never any money; he steals gas from the lawn mower to gas up his truck and never has gas in his truck. He graduates next Wednesday and waits until today to tell me he needs money or he can't get his cap and gown for graduation. Really? How long has he known about this? A month, this child drives me up a wall. He never calls to say, Hey mom how are you, it's always, mom, I need!
I love him dearly but sometimes I just don't understand him at all and pray that God will give me the strength not to slap him.

Daycare Bugs

Lil Critters Gummy Bear Vitamins, 190-Count Bottles (Pack of 2)

Happy Friday! This is my favorite day of the week, I have no plans for the weekend, which means plenty of time to play with the kids! For the past few days my boys have had a runny nose and cough and now I'm told by my Daycare provider two kids are seeing the doctor for illness, plus her own daughter is running a fever! I dread when illness runs through Daycare because one or both of my kids will be sick back to back, which means I get to take off of work and not get paid. Now, I'm not saying it's Daycare's fault by any stretch, I just wish kids didn't get sick. Maybe I should start pumping my kids full of vitamin C to ward off the nasty little bugs before it gets them. For now, I will have to wait and see if either of them develop a fever and will be brining my lap top home from work, just in case I have to take off.

Happy Weekend All! Enjoy the weather and the time you are given with your kids.

Our Step Daughter Is Coming Home

From Florida today! We are so excited to see her, it's been a year since we last saw her. About two years ago my step daughter's mother decided she wanted to move to Florida without any concideration for anyone but herself. This whole situation has been heart breaking for my husband. He pays his child support on a weekly basis but still is unable to see or speak to his daughter whenever he would like. My step daughter's mother doesn't get along with my husband for many reasons, but not allowing access to her father when she wants and needs to is just wrong. I for the life of me don't understand why some women are so selfish and self centered.
Any who, I can't wait to spend the three weeks we will have with her this year and hope that maybe some day her mother will understand she is hurting no one but herself with her selfish motivates.
This post is more of a rant, I know, but sometimes it just breaks my heart to see parents put their children in the middle of their own messy feelings.

Dirt Babies

Edushape Floating Blocks
Another fine afternoon of outside play in the dirt and any mud that can be found. I love this time of year, but I dread the daily bath with these two boys! They love the water so bath time is fun time for them, I on the other hand I leave the bathroom looking as if I have taken a bath in my clothes. These two fight over toys in the tub, so I have started collecting empty baby wash bottles and letting them use them for tub toys. It's amazing how the smallest things can entertain the little ones. The good news is my bathroom gets a daily cleaning from the water all over the floor and walls.

Best Summer Yard Toy

15' x 48" Easy Set Above Ground Swimming Pool
Is a swimming pool, not matter how deep, my boys love the water. Last year I spent $250 at Walmart on an inflatable pool that came complete with a filter, ladder and cover, it was the best money I ever spent. Then today, I ran across the same pool on Amazon.com for $25 dollars less, but all in all a great investment for my boys.
Chris, my 4-year old is like a fish, he is in and out of the pool all day long and poor Zach, my 2-year old isn't tall enough to touch the bottom so he is stuck in the baby pool another year. As I'm typing, I'm watching Zach place toys next to the pool to stand on top of so he can splash in the water. This child is part monkey and not ready to be set free into the pool just yet, he hates it.
I didn't think when buying a pool that has a blown up top ring would last through one summer let alone two. I have to admit it's pretty durable, Chris has biten the top ring, the dogs have jumped on the sides and it has yet to get a hole! It's not to big for a small yard and not to small to have 8 people in at a time. I have 4th of July parties every year and the kids loved it last year, so I'm sure they will have a great time in it this year. I've posted the link to Amazon's site at the top of this blog if you want to take a look.
